Pelonkey was founded by Nicole Gallub, aka DJ Neekola. In a nutshell, Nicole had worked in corporate America for over 10 years in the field of consulting for various agencies, such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Apptis, and various government agencies as an independent consultant. During that time, she'd moonlighted as a DJ, and was given an opportunity to leave her full-time consulting career to produce music and tour internationally.
During her time as an independent freelance creative, she learned a lot about the industry, how it was unregulated, and how performers and event planners alike were operating blindly in handshake agreements, or very limiting contractual agreements. She decided to use her corporate experience and ethical background to create a creative agency in which both performers and event professionals could rely on for fair pricing, transparent communications in what is needed from both sides to make specific performances happen, as well as reliability when it comes to payments, and arrival times for performers and staff.
Hence, Pelonkey was born! Pelonkey first started as a booking agency in 2014, in which clients would come to use Neekola as a referral to book specific acts only, for a 20% commission. Pelonkey still offers an a la carte booking agency service, but in 2015 Pelonkey has grown to a nationwide experiential production house and creative consulting agency, in which clients now come to Pelonkey seeking customized experiences, costumes, performances, as well as find and source niche acts.
